Privacy / Cookies Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how McHugh Components Ltd ("McHugh Components", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on www.mchc.ie (the "Website"). It should be read together with our Privacy Statement and Terms & Conditions.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by other organisations (for example, analytics providers) are called "third-party cookies". Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser ("session cookies"). Others remain on your device until they expire or you delete them ("persistent cookies").
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- keep the Website secure and working correctly;
- let you log in to your webshop account and stay logged in as you move between pages;
- remember the contents of your basket and your order details while you shop;
- remember your cookie choices;
- understand how visitors use the Website so we can improve it (only if you allow Analytics cookies).
In line with the ePrivacy Regulations 2011 (S.I. No. 336 of 2011) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we only place cookies that are strictly necessary for the Website to function without asking for your consent. All other cookies are off until you choose to allow them. Closing the cookie banner or continuing to browse does not count as consent, and you can use the Website if you reject optional cookies.
3. Types of cookies we use
Our cookie banner groups cookies into three categories: Strictly Necessary, Analytics and Marketing.
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Website to work. They enable core features such as security, page navigation, account login, the shopping basket and order checkout, and they remember your cookie choices. The Website cannot function properly without them, so they cannot be switched off. "Session" cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

3.3 Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies are used to measure advertising and campaigns. We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. If we add any in future, we will list them here before they are used, and they will only be set if you allow Marketing cookies.
3.4 Social Media Links
Our Website contains links to our pages on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube and LinkedIn. These are simple links and do not place cookies on your device while you are on our Website. If you follow these links, the relevant platform may set its own cookies, which are governed by that platform's own cookie and privacy policies.
4. Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit the Website, our cookie banner lets you accept all optional cookies, reject them, or choose individual categories using "Manage preferences".
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by selecting the "Cookie settings" button at the bottom right of any page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the related cookies where technically possible and the page may refresh to stop tags that are already running. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
We will ask you again when your saved choice expires, or if we make significant changes to the cookies we use.
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- see which cookies are stored and delete them individually;
- block third-party cookies;
- block all cookies from particular websites;
- block all cookies;
- delete all cookies when you close your browser.
Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Website, including login, the basket and checkout, will not work. If your browser blocks our consent cookie, we cannot remember your choice and optional cookies will stay off.
